District 3 Councilmember Zack Matheny
has filed to run for reelection
Matheny has been one of the swing votes on this council
and cast one of the deciding votes
to remove Mitch Johnson from office in March
It appears that Matheny is coming into his own as a councilmember
Also filing to run in District 3 is George Hartzman
Do the few who control dissemination
of most political information
enjoy relatively disproportionate levels of influence
than the many who don’t?
Are the less informed easier to persuade
than the more?
District 3 challenger George Hartzman
is challenging incumbent Zack Matheny
for the District 3 seat on Greensboro City Council
The 42-year-old Hartzman
… says he got interested in municipal politics
by studying debt in the states of California and North Carolina
and in Guilford County and the city of Greensboro
Hartzman is opposed to the city issuing new bonds
and favors reopening the White Street Landfill to household waste
“The young are bearing the burden of their elders’ debt,” he said
“…That’s really uncool
It’s wrong”
Is there a correlation between behavior
and information consumption?
Can thought be controlled by repeating positive messages
while underreporting negative
and vice versa?
If a newspaper knows how much money political candidates raise
can profit be enhanced by targeting news coverage
to influence campaign advertising money flows?
