A Roch Smith Jr. email on David Hagan's GPAC property broker contract to City Council and Candidates

Dear Councilors and Candidates,

I took notice of the Mayor's statement at this week's city council meeting when he said that information detailing the broker's commissions to be paid to Community Foundation Board member David Hagan as a broker for the GPAC properties had "been provided to us in closed session in great detail."

That information was, according to City staff, contained in a document the City is describing as a "property summary." I requested a copy of that document, but the City Attorney informs me that the document, while he says it was shared with council members at the closed session of August 5th, was retrieved from them and that the City has no copy to provide in response to my request for it.

Therefore, I am wondering, do any council members who saw this document recall the amount of commission to be paid to Mr. Hagan? We are all aware that council approved approximately $90,000 more than the actual purchase price of the properties when they authorized $7.6M for their purchase. How much of this was to cover commissions? Surely the people who authorized this spending know. Does anybody care to share?

Yours,

Roch Smith, Jr.

Tbs, I heard last night that Hank Henning is a Brady family member.

If David Hagen stands to benefit from the GPAC deal, and Louise Brady's Brady Trane employs Guilford County's Hank Henning...?

Looks like Hagan Properties stands to profit from the GPAC while David Hagan sits on CFGG's board of directors with Walker Sanders

Unless they tweaked something, aren't broker commissions generally 3% for either buyer or seller, and thus 6% in case the same agent is acting as broke for both (which Hagan luckily is in at least one instance)?

Good digging, Roch!
