Nationwide, total household debt including mortgages, credit cards, autos and other consumer loans, stood at $13.8 trillion in the first three months of this year.
That amounts to roughly $124,000 of debt per household.

The share of people using their credit cards to buy what they want even if they don't have the money, dropped to 19 percent, down from 25 percent last year.

If the City of Greensboro’s 2009-2010 Budget projects total expenditures of $423,547,753, and Total Debt as of June 30, 2008 was $584,713,000, and the city’s total debt exceeds projected income by about 27.6%, should we borrow to spend on what we want, even if we don’t have the money?
