Judaism and the Resurrection of the Dead:

"The Sadducees did not believe in an afterlife,
but the [Jewish sect] Pharisees believed in a literal resurrection of the body.

Resurrections of dead people are found in the Tanakh,
such as Elijah and the widow's son at Zarephath.

Jesus argued with the Sadducees over the doctrine of the resurrection.

with the position held by some Pharisees,
as illustrated by his response to a question regarding marriage at the resurrection

While the Christian doctrine of resurrection is based on Jewish belief,
how the emphasis on this involving the actual flesh increased parallel with Christianity..."
