On David Craft "winning" the Farmers Market Contract and Campaign Donations

I have spoken to many contributors to Greensboro City Council political campaigns.

What I found after I made it clear that I am not accepting contributions, is that some contributors who’ve done business with Greensboro's political infrastructure, which includes City Council Member appointed boards and non-profits, have been solicited by some Council Members for "donations" to their political campaigns.

I believe hustling money out of folks who've done business with the city is ethically inappropriate.

There is also a significant record of Council Members accepting contributions from some with business pending before council, or directly thereafter as is the case with David Craft's contract.

I believe hustling money out of folks who want to do business with the city is worse than hitting the former up for campaign cash.

Both asking those who have done or are about to do business with the city for donations is legal.

I would like Greensboro's City Council to approve the following language to prohibit this clearly unethical behavior;

"Current Greensboro City Council Members and Candidates for local elected office are prohibited from accepting campaign contributions from board members of organizations, developers, contractors or their lawyers or agents who have or may receive taxpayer funded contracts or monies, for 12 months before and after doing business with Greensboro’s government."
.
.
Within months after acquiring the Farmers Market contract, David gave to Robbie, Nancy, and Jim during the 2011 election cycle.
.
.
"How do you tell the Mayor and Council to stay out?

Problem with politicians is that they start visiting parts of the city near election time and rarely in the time after an election."

Don Moore
.
.
"Several members of Council and candidates for various offices are regular shoppers in the market.

We welcome them to continue shopping and supporting local business."

David Craft
.
.
So once your in office you get to take advantage of being well known on taxpayer property, but if no one knows who you are, and your not accepting contributions, you can't show up on city owned property to state your case, and you can't shove Greensboro elite money down everyone else's throats.

There are going to be Robbie and Nancy signs in yards paid for by Roy Carroll, Betty Cone, Jim Melvin, TREBIC members, the Koury's etc..., and their cronies are censoring relatively honest others from campaigning on government property.

Aren't the vendors at the market soliciting product?

I went there to show them a way to make more money, and David told me "They are making enough".

This article identifies the various ways political candidates can use yard signs to assist with the campaign process. While yard signs won't guarantee a win on Election Day, they can be very helpful for building awareness political campaign marketing
