The entirety of an email I sent on July 3,

subject: On Greensboro’s Saturday night self inflicted “riot”; The communities’ teens were invited downtown

“It seems as though the City of Greensboro organized and marketed a free event in downtown Greensboro, after which a series of unfortunate, less than well controlled events occurred, which seem to have concluded in some proposals for a ban/curfew/#chittybangbang scenario on all teens in downtown Greensboro.

What is being proposed today is a restriction on an entire group of people not old enough to vote, who were invited to where others didn’t want them to be.

They are going to try to use the consequences of something they created to restrict all teens in the city.”

Quite an act of blogging cowardice Fec.

Please don’t write about me if you can’t handle the responses.

Roch:

Sorry for the delay. I’ve been out of the office for a couple of days.

I’ve gone back and checked. The item in question was submitted to the News & Record, but may not have been intended as a letter. It came to us via email but was not explicitly labeled as a letter. What was published today may have been confused with an earlier letter George submitted within the same week. And, if so, the mistake was mine. Due to some technical issues with our email last week more of us were involved in the letters process than is usually the case.

I am sorry if I erred. As for the changed sentence, that only involved a time element adjustment.

The original sentence was: “What is being proposed today is a restriction on an entire group of people not old enough to vote, who were invited to where others didn’t want them to be.”

I have been a member of the Bench Tavern for 15 years.
You just insulted a part of my family.
You just insulted some of my friends.
You may have just made a mistake.
