Stimulus dollars will save 11 Dayton police jobs

Funding from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 will save the jobs of 11 city of Dayton police officers.

The Department of Justice approved a $5.6 million grant, which will be spread over a three-year period, to cover the hiring or retention of up to 21 Dayton police officers.

City Manager Rashad Young said the 11 officers, previously informed they would be laid off, were being notified Tuesday afternoon their positions are being re-instated.
