Roy Carroll's Robbie Perkins Endorsement and Country Club Apology

http://www.rhinotimes.com/publisher-s-column.html

"So what about Robbie’s continued membership at the Greensboro Country Club in light of his ongoing financial difficulties?

This is something that I have heard from several people who say that it sounds really bad that Robbie can’t make the courts happy, but he continues to stay a member of the country club.

In my opinion, Robbie’s continued membership at the Greensboro Country Club is essential to his occupation as a commercial real estate broker. [Like for David Hagan]

GH; How many commercial real estate brokers who work in Greensboro don't belong the GCC?

A good number of the people that own commercial property that want to sell, or people that wish to purchase commercial real estate, belong to the Greensboro Country Club.  For this reason most of the top commercial real estate brokers, lawyers and other professionals in the city belong to a country club; they need to associate with real estate developers and other business owners.

GH; How many African Americans are members of the Greensboro Country Club?

Robbie needs to continue to earn income from his commercial real estate practice so he can pay his alimony, child support obligations and his other creditors. Robbie has stated publically that his commercial real estate firm, which he sold to his former partners, pays his country club dues.

GH; If Robbie sold his businesses to his former partners, and his former partners are paying for his club dues and car, how is that not hiding income?

While getting rid of his membership would be good public relations, it’s just not smart for him to do that when it likely would restrict his ability to earn income.

GH; So if you're not a member of the Greensboro Country Club, you can't be successful in Greensboro, North Carolina?

Greensboro Country Club dues run about $530 per month.

GH; What is actually paid?

If he can make one more sale a year by remaining a member of a country club, it’s worth his continued membership in the club and in my opinion the best thing for his family and creditors as well."

"A $586,000 commission paid to [Greensboro Country Club Member] real estate broker David Hagan — brother-in-law of U.S. Sen. Kay Hagan — for assembling land for the center received criticism Thursday because it left a poor impression with the general public and because critics [George Hartzman] said the same work might have been done by city staff as part of their normal workload.

“That was dumb,” Johnson said, noting that the commission was decided by the Community Foundation of Greater Greensboro before the city got involved..."

Must be nice to be a part of the "in" crowd, of those who get a taste of everyone else's money by being a part of a private mostly white country club in a city that is about half non-white.
