Sounds like more raw sewage needs processing by the city utility. Sounds like people with proven development experience in delivering successful commercial projects which create JOBS and attract new companies are applying for incentives for projects that have been pre-reviewed by the city agencies and for which the projects are eligible, which are a small fraction of the actual investment by developers. Sounds like you are accusing TREBIC members of being like ALEC members. Sounds like you are accusing actual taxpayers of somehow taking funds that were allocated for indigent non-taxpayers, when these are pre-allocated commercial incentive funds which will help the economy by creating jobs. Sounds like even though you enjoy the suburban Lake Jeanette lifestyle, you bristle at those who belong to a Country Club. What are your development plans beyond trying to save the unneeded War Memorial Stadium, which should be turned into a nice mixed use park with a lake and botanical garden? How about a nice art museum onthe site of the old YWCA???

Agreed.

"these are pre-allocated commercial incentive funds which will help the economy by creating jobs."

Bullshit.

Please, please, no need for abusive profanity.

First ALEC actually writes legislative templates to blatantly favor big business and the conservative social agenda rather than the people. What's is going on here is that a pool of developers are applying for utility hook up reimbursements in accordance with rules already established for funds either set asside or made available by development bonds. It is the difference between writing computer code for a program or merely running data through a program. You offer no proof of how this is beneffiting the rich at the expense of the poor. Because this is a relatively small town, the same handful of developers are going to be applying for the available incentives whenever they are eligible. If you want to clean up conflicts of interest, build some support on the council and have them sponsor some ethics reform legislation. Sell them on the features advsntages and benefits. By pointing fingers and creating the appearance of major fraud, you are creating enemies rather than building support and gaining allies. This is how you got into trouble at WF. Identify a problem at its root cause, leave personalities out of it, then refer it to the proper internal and external regulators. When the people at the right pay grade make the decision, THAT'S IT. You risk your livelyhood and the ability to support your family if you think you are going to reform an entrenched corrupt system where everyone including the media turns a blind eye and you have no allies who are stakeholders with a seat at the table. Choose your battles carefully. Discretion is the better part of forebearance. Don't just tilt at windmills like Don Quixote. You have a lot of good ideas. You need to find a way to channel that into leadership. Arrogance, rudeness, and pomposity are not endearing qualities for a leader. Try to see the good in other people and build synergies. You can do it if you do some soul searching.

"...a pool of developers are applying for utility hook up reimbursements in accordance with rules already established for funds either set asside or made available by development bonds."

Incorrect.

The incentives, as they don't qualify under regular incentive guidelines, are at the sole discretion of Council.

The incentives are brought by council members advocating for the handouts to their friends.

Factually incorrect.

I completely disagree

"You risk your livelyhood and the ability to support your family if you think you are going to reform an entrenched corrupt system where everyone including the media turns a blind eye and you have no allies who are stakeholders with a seat at the table."

So it's corrupt, but its OK, because that's how it is.

Poor argument.

I searched my soul and found a corrupt local government and their crony friends treating taxpayer money as a piggy bank via Robbie, Nancy and friends.

You are saying overlook all that and play ball to win.

Thanks, no.

First they came for the communists,
and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a communist.

Then they came for the socialists,
and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a socialist.

Then they came for the trade unionists,
and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a trade unionist.

Then they came for me,
and there was no one left to speak for me.

To me, this is the essence of what you are trying to say.

I don't intend to keep letting it happen in Greensboro, because "that's the way it has always been"

"Why aren't there dozens of lawyers at your side chomping at the bit to take these people to court?"

Everything they are doing is legal and unethical at the same time.
.
.
"Why doesn't the City Attorney see it your way?"

City Council is the City Attorney's client.

He doesn't work for taxpayers.

He works to legally justify what council chooses to do, whether it's legal or not, whethere it's ethical or not.

That's why they hired him.

"The Nazis were ruling via terror rounding their opponents up imprisoning them without trial, then gassing and burning them."

Everything the Nazis did was legal in Germany, just like all the unethical dealings city council engages in, only different.

"stop attacking the city's philanthropists and every idea for development."

Some of the city's "philanthropists" are need attacking, because they are trying to skim of everyone else's tax money on the back end.

Roy Carroll and Randall Kaplan are great examples, as they owned the GPAC committees and stand to make fortunes on a taxpayer subsidized venue.

Bullshit.

Hmmm... If I recall correctly, there were a lot more people on the city council who voted to support GPAC and yet Kathy didn't contribute to them. So there isn't a tight correlation between contributions and votes. And for the amounts involved, some donated catering, is that really enough to sell one's vote and good name? If two people agree on an issue, and one contributes money to the other's campaign, this is an automatic conflict of interest? Even though there is no embezzelment, secret bribes, or individual gain? The bit with the hotel is sheer speculation. They were talking about it long before GPAC. You think people are going to drive in from Hamlet, attend a show, spend a night in Kaplan's yet to be built Hotel and this is going to net him some windfall? A while back their group went out for low interest loans backed by stimulus funds and they didn't get any banks to go for it. What will change now? Isn't a hotel in a market that always has surplus capacity a risky investment? Speaking of which, when you went short on your client's portfolios of bank equities, did you reveal to each of them that you were embarking on moves which are infinitely risky, that they could be on the hook for more than their principle? How much did they lose and how much was recovered!? You know, under new Dodd Frank regs they could've sued you personal? Everbody knew Congress wasn't going to let the banking system go under, even my dog. There is a reason shorts are called Wrong Bettor. You are going against the house.
