Why do we think?

Thoughts of what we believe to be our past are dependent on existing in the present.

Need appears to be sustenance, hygiene and a temperate climate.

To exist in the present, we must have acquired enough of what we need in the past to make it happen.

Want is everything but need in the future, but you have to have need beforehand to get there.

With the passage of time, we "do" by existing in the present,
so deciding to do nothing is choosing to do something.

Some of what we do, we don't know how we do, or can't choose to do, like hunger or thirst.

We can choose some of what to do and think in the present,
some of which may happen in the future, which would be different present moments.

Think is a question mark.

If consciousness of our existence is dependent on thought,
the present moment may be the only thing that actually exists.

It is a pleasure, wonder and maybe an honor to be able to think like we can,
considering the statistical improbability.

Why do we think?

Now you're speaking of stuff I can relate to, 'specially this statement:
"If consciousness of our existence is dependent on thought,
the present moment may be the only thing that actually exists."

I've always loved philosophy & religion!

" I think; therefore I AM"!
