Timothy Leary

If after a community of monkeys

were trained to exchange pebbles for cucumbers

a select group got better tasting grapes

the cucumber earning monkeys stopped gathering pebbles

in response to perceived unfairness

and exhibited hostility

when some received grapes for doing nothing

are some humans responding the same way

to perceived injustices in response to economic distress

only differently?

is the oldest and most fatal ailment of all republics

Plutarch

If need is sustenance and a temperate climate

and modern society’s social contract

is do not do to others what you wouldn’t want them to do to you

unless you need to
